Local Change

In Northwest Leicestershire, an individual used his training to reinvigorate a community group’s management committee. The refreshed committee now runs much more effective services for their community.

The committee association in question had been around for years and had achieved some amazing things in the past. However, recently it had become little more than a talking shop for committee members.

Rather than tackle the problem aggressively, the individual who attended the Think Leicestershire training explored the committee’s personal motivations for being part of that group. In doing so, he highlighted which members felt genuinely passionate about what the group was trying to achieve.

The discussion gave those whose passion had waned the chance to think about whether the group was really where they should focus their time.

For the other members who were still as driven to help the group achieve success, the individual used their Think Leicestershire techniques to help them take personal responsibility for specific areas of the group’s management.

The result is that the group are now much more dynamic. Their renewed vigour has resulted in new community space where the group runs activities such as a mums & tots group and an older person’s seated exercise classes.
